2WIRE™ Decoders for Hunter® ICC Controllers from Underhill
Underhill has released a new 2Wire™ Decoder Control System that quickly converts any Hunter® ICC Controller to two-wire operation. The Underhill system, which has recently been introduced to the U.S. market, includes the 2Wire™ ICC Decoder Module and 2Wire™ Decoders. The two-wire technology behind the Underhill system has been utilized in more than 100,000 decoders installed throughout Europe in the last 10 years. Underhill’s new 2Wire™ ICC Decoder Module easily snaps into any 32-station Hunter ICC Controller and increases the capacity to 48 stations. All stations, or only selected stations, can be converted to two-wire operation. Two-wire technology has proven a cost-saving alternative on sites such as sports fields, cemeteries, HOA common areas, parks, and schools. ICC Decoder Modules connect directly to Underhill 2Wire field decoders, which can be installed anywhere along a two-wire path. Up to 96 valves can be controlled by one 48-station ICC with one or two decoders per station.
2Wire Decoder station numbers can be programmed through the ICC controller module or in the field with the use of an optional push-button programmer. Both the decoder modules and field decoders have a two-year warranty that includes lightning protection, even with direct hits. No field grounding is required for the decoders, however, it is recommended that the ICC controller is properly grounded via the Decoder Module. Two-wire systems offer a range of cost-saving benefits, including material and labor savings on projects with more than 300 feet of mainlines or at least a quarter acre of landscaping. Two-wire also offers the ability to expand the system at any time by adding more valves and decoders anywhere along the two-wire path. Repairs and troubleshooting are also simplified with only two wires to reconnect in the event of a break, rather than the 15 to 40 control wires typically used in a conventional multi-wire system. Two-wire systems have been installed successfully in Europe for 20 years and have gained popularity in the U.S. because of lower installation and maintenance costs, and more flexibility to add zones during or after installation. Underhill 2Wire system technology has been installed on sites worldwide, among them sports fields, school and college campuses, parks, cemeteries and nurseries.

Underhill’s new Turfspy™ detection glasses reveal disease, pests, other stress conditions
TurfSpy, the newly-introduced turf stress detection glasses from Underhill International, can help golf superintendents “see the future” by revealing potential problems before they are visible to the naked eye.
TurfSpy lenses work by blocking out the green spectrum reflected from chlorophyll in healthy vegetation. Stress conditions, such as disease, drought, pests or poor nutrition, are revealed with glowing colors (red, coral, pink) and can be detected two to 10 days before they are visible to the unaided eye.
The ANSI-approved safety glasses have a new wrap-around lens for more effective viewing and adjustable earpiece for comfortable wear while mowing or striping fairways.
Golf course superintendents who use stress detection lenses report they help identify diseases for early treatment, including: fusarium patch, pythium blight, yellow patch, brown patch and anthracnose, along with poa grass invasions.
TurfSpy glasses can also spot wilting caused by drought or broken sprinklers, and are useful in locating weeds for pesticide application or in identifying tree diseases and pests.
Constructed from shatter-proof polycarbonate, the TurfSpy lens include a high quality soft case and micro-fiber cleaning cloth.
For more information or to order TurfSpy glasses, contact Underhill at 866.863.3744 or see the lenses on the website at www.underhill.us.

UNDERHILL AUDITMASTER™ KIT HELPS TURF MANAGERS EVALUATE SPRINKLER PERFORMANCE
AuditMaster, a professional irrigation auditing kit that helps trained sports field personnel measure the amount of water that is being applied – and determine if sprinklers are performing to expectations.
Underhill’s AuditMaster LT Kit includes all the tools necessary to audit and evaluate system performance, based on Irrigation Association Guidelines and covered in IA audit classes. Once an evaluation is complete and results are analyzed, the turf manager may decide to replace underperforming sprinklers; switch out worn nozzles; relocate or adjust heads; or trim landscape obstructions, such as overgrown shrubs and ground covers.
The kit sets up quickly and results are typically determined the same day.
Sports turf irrigation audits will become routine, reports Underhill, especially in California as the state’s Water Conservation Act takes effect.
The AuditMaster kit includes:
A heavy-duty wheeled duffle bag to store the equipment; 30 large CatchCanPro cups with inches and centimeters; 100-foot measuring tape; ¾” POC hose bib with 160 psi pressure gauge; pitot tube attached to a 30-inch flex hose with 160 psi pressure gauge; sprayhead tester adapter with 160 psi pressure gauge; stop watch; anemometer; yellow marking flags (50); 21-inch wire staff and 4” x 5” flag.
CatchCanPro water cups are self-standing and easily anchor into the turf or on adjoining slopes. Constructed from durable polypropylene, the efficient design allows for shorter test times.
For more information about AuditMaster kits, see the Underhill website at: www.underhill.us or call 866.863.3744.
Underhill offers an expanding line of water-efficient irrigation products for sports fields, including Two Wire control systems, Mirage large turf sprinklers, Pellet Pro and LiquidPro
applicators, Magnum and Precision hose-end nozzles, Gulp pumps and MicroEase low volume.
The company is headquartered in Lake Forest, CA, and has been in business for 30 years.
